Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the Kartavya Bhawan, a sustainable building that will soon be the hub of many central government ministries. Get all the details here.
Modi Govt’s Central Vista Project
The Central Vista Redevelopment Project is one of the largest infrastructural projects in independent India's history. The Modi government is spearheading the initiative to modernise New Delhi's administrative hub by replacing antiquated colonial-era buildings with cutting-edge, sustainable, and integrated amenities.
The initiative represents a transition from fragmented governance to agile, efficient, and transparent administration, harmonising with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Importance of Kartavya Bhavan
Kartavya Bhavan is important for:
Consolidating ministries from 50 dispersed locations to enhance governance efficiency.
Reducing rent and operational expenses by ₹1,500 crore each year.
Encouraging sustainability through the use of solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient systems.
Embodying the national spirit with its designation “Kartavya,” which represents duty and service.
How Kartavya Bhavan Represents a Larger Transformation
Kartavya Bhavan is a part of the Common Central Secretariat project. It marks a departure from the colonial legacy of governance housed in British-era buildings like North and South Block, which will now be repurposed into the Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum.
PM Modi declared that "Kartavya Bhawan will guide the policies and direction of a developed India."
