JEE Main 2026 Eligibility: What You Need to Know Before Applying


Although the eligibility requirements for JEE Main 2026 have not yet been formally announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), prospective candidates can use last year's guidelines to determine their eligibility for the test.

Here is the last year eligibility criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Class 12 completion in 2024 or 2025, or appearing in 2026.


  • Age Limit: No specified age limit.


  • Minimum Marks: No minimum percentage required in Class 12 for JEE Main. The 75% criterion is not applicable for appearing in the exam.


  • Subject Combinations:


  1. Paper 1 (BE/BTech): Physics, Mathematics + Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational Subject.

  2. Paper 2A (BArch): Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  3. Paper 2B (BPlan): Mathematics is compulsory.

  • Valid Email and Mobile Number: Essential for receiving updates and verification.

  • Class 10 Certificate: Required for upload.

  • Aadhaar Card Details.

  • Scanned Photograph and Signature.

Steps to Apply for JEE Main 2026 Online


  1. Register: Visit jeemain.nta.nic.in, click “New Candidate Registration,” enter your details, and set a password. You’ll receive a registration number and password via email/SMS.

  2. Fill Application: Log in, complete academic details, select your paper, and upload scanned photo and signature.

  3. Pay Fee: Use Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI to pay the application fee.

  4. Submit: After payment, submit the form and download the confirmation PDF sent to your email.
