In a public advisory, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of the Indian government has urged individuals to discontinue using WhatsApp Web on their laptops and business PCs. Although using a work device to access personal files and chats is convenient, the federal agency has clarified that doing so may expose your company to private information.
According to the warning, administrators and IT teams may gain access to private conversations and personal files by utilizing WhatsApp Web. Malware, browser hijacks, and screen-monitoring software are some of the ways this could occur.

People are being cautioned about the dangers of using WhatsApp Web at work by the Information Security Awareness (ISEA) division of the Indian government.
The Issue:
Workplace cybersecurity risks are rising.
Certain organizations now think that hackers might use WhatsApp Web as a tool to introduce malware, or malicious software, or start phishing attacks, which are bogus messages or links that steal your personal information.
The entire firm network, not just a single computer, might be compromised if such an attack is successful.
Additional Risk:
Simply connecting your personal phone to the corporate Wi-Fi could grant your company's IT systems some degree of access to your phone, even if you're not using WhatsApp Web.
This can make your private information, files, or messages public.
Additionally, the warning warns of the "horrors" of using WhatsApp on work-related devices, including the possibility of data breaches in the event that the laptop is compromised and the possibility of data interception on unprotected Wi-Fi networks.
