Heavy overnight rainfall in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun district caused the Tamsa River to overflow, flooding the iconic Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple. Water entered the temple courtyard and reached up to the Hanuman idol, though the sanctum sanctorum remained intact.


IMD Warns of Heavy Rain in Four Uttarakhand Districts, Issues Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that heavy rain is expected in four districts of Uttarakhand — Dehradun, Champawat, Bageshwar, and Nainital.

Because of this, rivers and streams are already full and flowing above the danger level, which means there’s a higher risk of flooding.

Authorities are asking people to:

  • Stay alert and follow weather updates.

  • Avoid going near rivers, streams, or low-lying areas where water can quickly rise


  • Be prepared for possible disruptions in travel and power supply due to the heavy rain.

Rising Rivers Flood Rishikesh: Rescue Operations Underway, Residents Advised to Stay Indoors


In Rishikesh, the Chandrabhaga river has overflowed, and the floodwater has even reached the highway, making travel risky.


Here’s what’s happening:

  • Three people who were stranded in the river were rescued safely by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

  • Several vehicles are still stuck because of the flooding.

  • Rescue teams are on standby and officials are monitoring the situation closely.

  • Residents are being advised to stay indoors and not go near the rivers, as the water level is dangerously high.

  • Relief operations are ongoing to protect people in areas that are most at risk.

CM Dhami Monitors Relief Efforts After Heavy Rain Wreaks Havoc in Dehradun

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed concern over the damage caused by heavy rainfall in Dehradun on Monday night.

In a post on social media, the Chief Minister said that several shops were damaged in the Sahastradhara area due to the overnight downpour.

He informed that relief and rescue teams from the district administration, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and police were immediately deployed to the affected locations.

Dhami added that he is in constant touch with the local administration and is personally monitoring the situation to ensure timely assistance and safety of residents.
