6 states in India faced floods and landslides due to heavy rains. These states include Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand.Notably, Uttarakhand saw major devastation as the Alaknanda River surged way past the danger zone and submerged landmarks such as ghats. While the Ganga River is also getting dangerously close to the danger zone.
4 states from the North-East—Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Mizoram were heavily hit. The death toll in these states is 24 and counting.

Details of the flood relief package
The central government released a Rs 1066 crore flood relief package for the 6 states that were most hit by floods under the State Disaster Relief Fund.
Home Minister Amit Shah's post on X regarding the relief package said, "More than Rs 8,000 crore from SDRF/NDRF funds has been provided to 19 states this year. Apart from financial aid, providing all logistic assistance, including deployment of requisite NDRF, Army, and Air Force, has been our priority."

Impact on affected states
The ₹1,066.80 crore flood relief package provides essential support to six states facing monsoon disasters:
Assam: ₹375.60 crore to assist displaced families and repair essential infrastructure.
Uttarakhand: The highest grant of ₹455.60 crore to repair highways and reconstruct flood-damaged districts.
Kerala: ₹153.20 million to support relief efforts in districts affected by rising waters and dam overflows.
Manipur, Meghalaya, and Mizoram have received a combined fund of ₹82.40 crore for evacuation, housing, and medical support.
In addition to financing, the Centre has also dispatched NDRF and military troops for rescue and relief, rescuing around 3,800 persons in the North-east alone during Operation Jal Rahat-2.
