Details of the collapse
The roof of Piplodi Government Upper in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar collapsed at 8:30 AM on Friday. At the time of the tragedy, 27 students were present.
The school was previously in a dilapidated condition, and complaints had been raised regarding the same. 4 children died, and 40 remained trapped. The affected children were rushed to Manohar Thana Hospital for treatment.
Eyewitness Accounts
While speaking to the news agency PTI, Amit Kumar, the Superintendent of Police, said, "Four children have died, and 17 others are injured. Ten children have been referred to Jhalawar, out of which three to four are critical."
Rescue Efforts
The affected children are undergoing treatment at Manohar Thana Hospital. JCB Machines were used to clear all the rubble. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Education Minister Madan Dilawar have both ordered enquiries for investigation.
