Updating your Personal Account Number (PAN) card details has become smoother with the latest changes by the CBDT.

Be it changing your birth date, address, spelling correction, or contact number, remember to follow the updated process to avoid rejections.

This blog covers the details of these new forms, the guidelines, and procedures for filling them out.

What Do the PAN Correction Forms 2026 Mean for You?

Taking effect from 1st April, 2026, the PAN card correction changes were issued under CBDT order no. F. No. ADG(S)-1/PAN/M/3699/2026

This notification has been issued under Rule 158(12) of the Income-tax Rules, 2026, read with Section 262(4) of the Income-tax Act, 2025.

These new rules require a PAN card holder to fill out two new forms, namely PAN CR-01 for an Individual and PAN CR-02 for a non-individual.

Now, we have 4 different forms of applications for specific changes as per an applicant’s requirements.

One distinctive change is that you can no longer file for the re-issue of a PAN card using correction forms; those have a completely different process under a separate process.

The correction forms are to be used only for changes to be made in your PAN details.

The particulars of the forms have been de-clustered, making them simpler to understand and more transparent. No need for third-party help in filling PAN card details anymore.
