Good news for users of Aadhaar. Updating your email address on Aadhaar will be free of cost and will be available only through the Aadhaar mobile app, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said.
What's Changing?
The charge for updating email address on Aadhaar is currently Rs 75 (including GST). This fee will be waived for six months from July 1, 2026. The offer will be valid till December 31, 2026, after which UIDAI can review and decide to continue or bring the fee back.

The fee waiver is strictly applicable to the updates done through the Aadhaar mobile application. The regular charges will still apply if you opt for any other mode to update your details. So, use the app to get this benefit for free.
How to Use the Aadhaar Mobile App?
To get started, you will need a mobile device with Android 9.0 or higher or iOS 16.0 or higher and a working internet connection.
The app lets you do much more than just updating your email. You can update your mobile number and address, lock/unlock biometrics, download e-Aadhaar, check authentication history, track your requests, and avail yourself of many other services.
How to Verify Your Email on Aadhaar Online?
Visit the verification page and choose the 'Verify Email Address' option. Enter your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number and submit the request to verify your email address linked with Aadhaar.
